19TH C CHINESE HAND WOVEN & STITCHED RAIN ARMOUR / COAT OF WOVEN PALM
DATING TO THE 19TH CENTURY
CHINA IN ORIGIN
FASHIONED OF HAND WOVEN COCONUT PALM THROUGHOUT AND IS WOVEN TIGHT TO KEEP THE RAINWATER OFF OF THE WEARER.
TWISTED CORD DETAIL IS THICK AROUND THE NECKLINE WITH BRAIDED SEAMS ATOP EACH SHOULDER AND THE EDGES OF THE CAPE IN PALM FRINGE.
THE FRONT PANELS ARE ATTACHED WITH TWISTED ROPE ON EITHER SIDE OF THE NECKLINE AND FORMS SKIRTING AROUND THE REAR.  THE FRONT TIES CLOSED AT TWO POINTS.
A HANGING LOOP WAS ADDED TO THE REAR.
CONDITION
:  MUCH OF THE FRINGE EDGES ARE ABSENT AS SEEN AS WELL AS THE FRINGE ENDS ALONG THE BOTTOM.
THERE IS A TWO INCH SQUARE ABSENCE TO THE BOTTOM RIGHT AND SLIGHT BALD WEAR TO THE TOP OF THE FRONT PANELS.  NO SPLITS, FLAWS OR WEAKNESS.
A GREAT UNUSUAL PIECE FOR WEAR OR DISPLAY.
