EARLY CHINESE IMPERIAL GOLD THREAD TURTLE DRAGON SILK TAPESTRY PANEL MING QING DYNASTY
This appears to be an early gold silk thread panel piece or perhaps a very fine vintage piece done in the old style. I know very little about Asian antiques, so please look at all pictures closely. The subject is 3 large raised gold thread turtles with dragon faces and special inset eyes. The textile craftsmanship is extraordinary, which leads me to believe it is an imperial workshop piece, perhaps part of a larger tapestry at one time.
The frame measures 33-1/2" x 31-1/2" and it looks stunning when hanging. There is some older damage to the frame, backing, and matting, but the silk panel and gold thread artwork appear to be in very good condition. It is a heavy piece, weighing 17 lbs, but if you are happy to forego the old framing, I could take it out carefully and save you a great deal in shipping by shipping the silk panel only.
