Description
Japanese Sterling Silver & Mixed Metal Box Stork Design Lacquered Interior Meiji Periodof rectangular form, Meiji Period Artist Signed Japanese sterling silver & mixed metal box Circa 1880's, with exterior top green patinated bronze plaque applied with silver & 24k gold descending stork with spread-out wings landing upon hand embossed tree branch, the plaque set with-in silver frame. Interior of the box decorated with fitted lacquered wood hand painted in brown & 24k gold paint panels depicting a willow tree, wood fences surrounded with grass meadow landscape. Interior separated in-to two sections for matches, unfiltered cigarettes or ceremonial articles. The main body set with-in sterling silver frame. Overall very good condition, some visible paint touch-ups along the corners, minor scratches, no visible damage to the main plaque, some patina wear & spotted discoloration, silver frame made with nearly pure silver therefore, shows a few pin-pointed marks, one very minor lower side dent, a few slightly deeper scratches.
