    This is a great 1980's era Merrythought Traditional Teddy Bear (model GM/30 I believe) that came from our Moms collection. It stands 30 inches (75 cm) tall with jointed arms, legs, and head and is made of golden mohair. It is in great condition with no mohair loss and no fading. The amber and black plastic eyes, vertically stitched black nose, stitched black mouth in classic inverted smiling shape, embroidered blacknose, hand pads and foot pads are all in excellent shape. A wide red colored ribbon is tied in a bowtie around its neck. It has humongous floppy ears which add to its cute looks.
    The original yellow cloth tag on the bottom of the right foot reads “Merrythought, IRONBRIDGE SHROPS, Made in England”. The "MERRYTHOUGHT Made in Great Britain" paper tag with the English Flag depicted is attached to its chest. Likewise, a blue and silver "Merrythought Hygienic Toys" paper tag with cleaning instructions is attached. This bear is completely authentic.
    It is dressed in a christening gown which I believe was added by our Mother-In-Law - she liked to dress her teddy bears. It comes from a smoke free, pet free environment.
    This large teddy bear is made of the finest quality materials and to the most exacting of British workmanship! Merrythought is now the only remaining British teddy bear manufacturer - their production is now on a small scale and is focused on the collectors pieces. They became one of the Finest English Teddy Bear Manufacturers.
    A Merrythought is another name for a Good Luck Wish Bone. Merrythought bears are sought after for their fine quality. Merrythought bears are the bears with the secret smile, they have a gentle loving expression and a sweet perky face. Be charmed by a Merrythought!
    You do not see many of these for sale - just try a web or an EBay search! What a wonderful collectible British Bear!!! For an avid teddy bear collector this 1982 vintage bear would be quite a stunning addition to their collection.
