Superb Japanese Samurai Shokai Sterling Silver Shinto Torii Gate Statue

Description

Presented is a beautiful piece of Japanese silver in the form of a Shinto torii or shrine gate. This piece was made by Samurai Shokai and likely retailed by Arthur & Bond. The torii is fabulously decorated on the pillars with Art Nouveau style flowers and leaves, like irises or other waterside plants. The feet of the gate are done in a charming brickwork design. The center brace has a hole in the center where likely a plaque or crest was mounted at some point, which could easily have a new decoration or plaque added now in its place.
This piece is in great overall condition. There is a minor dent to the top portion. Otherwise there are no dents, no splits, no breaks, and no repairs.
The piece is stamped with Japanese characters which we unfortunately cannot read. The piece has been tested and is guaranteed at least 950 purity silver.
This piece stands about 6 inches tall.
This piece weighs 337 grams or 11.9 regular ounces. There is likely some weighting in the feet of the piece, but the majority of the weight by far is silver.
