Description

Vintage Cambodian Animal Shaped Silver Betel Nut Boxes.
One Betel box is a Ram and the other a Turtle. Cambodian silversmiths  make small, thin silver boxes to hold betel nut or snuff and the shapes are frequently animals or fruit. They consist of two pieces opening in the middle but where they separate is barely noticeable.
These items were purchased in the late 1960's while the family was stationed in Thailand. They have been dusted but never polished as seen by the deep patina.
The Ram is 2 1/2 inches long, nose to tail, and 1 3/8 inches at it's widest, 1 3/4 inches high top of head to base, 1 1/2 inches highest point on back to base.
The Turtle is
2 1/8 inches long, nose to tail, and 1 1/2 inches at it's widest, 1 3/8 inches high top of head to base, 1 inch highest point on back to base.
