    Description

    I'm not an expert on Chinese embroidery but definitely a fan. If we have had prior lives I definitely lived in China and had something to do with embroidery. The funny thing about this pair of sleeve bands is that it looks partially unfinished. There are some drawn on scrolls that aren't embroidered so I wonder if this was ever even used. There are drawn on antennae for the butterflies and a few tiny scrolls. If those drawings weren't there you would never know since it really looks complete. Done on an apricot colored silk. The Peonies are done in forbidden (Peking) stitch and the rest is done in satin stitch. There are 4 glorious butterflies and leaves and flowers. Entire piece is 10 by 19 inches. In very good shape but there are a few small frayed areas that you can see when you hold it up to a light. The silk lining on the back has a stain.
